i've also decoded some of the content in the EEPROM chip making it possible to change the odometer.
blue rings is odometer (double registered for saftey)

h15 = hFF-hEA (control)
hEAFF = d60159 (m)

Norbert

So you are actually able to produce new carcontrollers? Do you have the complete list of components on The CC? I have a Buddy with a rev1.1 carcontroller, so if this will be broken I will be very interested in having your contact details. Could you pm your contactdetails?

I only have it for eljet 4 wich is the 60v car. I have display card and controller card for eljet 5 also (72v version) but i have not reverse engineerd those cards yet.

i have extra pcb's for display and cc for eljet 4 if anyone is interrested (unpopulated)
i can also supply eproms programmed for eljet 4 with correct dates (2020...) and some other small fixes. I have not been able to reverse engineer the software in the eprom. i found the guy that programmed it but he has no documentation left for it :-( it was written in C and compiled. very complicated to reverse engeineer compiled assembly code.

It might be interesting which of the EEPROMs is holding the odometer as there is one on the Car Controller and a second one on the Display board. I think the EEPROM on the Car Controller holds the battery data and the one on the Display board is responsible for Odometer data, right?

Oh, and on another note - in opposite to what the drawings of the El-Jet tell, my 12V house supply Battery is in front of the car next to the 4 driving batteries. Is that the same for your El-Jet 4?

How come you have software version 1.1 on your El-Jet 4? The latest i know ist 1.05. If that really is a newer software i'd by very interested in a HEX file of the EPROM.

My El Jet 4 is from 1994 with the serial 584. I recently purchased it for 250 Euros without batteries and will rebuild in the months to come.

El Jet 5 has a copy of the odometer in the display unit. El jet 4 only has one EEPROM on the motherboard.
Eljet 4 also has a 12V battery in the front.

He'res a dump of 1.11. I updated the 1.1 with new dates (2020) and corrected a spelling error

Ah, thats my fault - i have more than one Car Controller here (and a display board) and they are not always marked correctly for EJ5 and EJ4.

Thanks a lot grufman!
Problem when building the display board will be the SAA1064 chips as they are long out of production and are now selling for a fortune.

First tests today with the 12V battery show no obvious electrical problems on my El-Jet. I still have to buy 10 driving batteries, though...

SAA1064 is possible to buy as SMD's, then you use SMD->DIL adaptors. I bought those just in case, but did not use them. I have them at home, new old stock.

It is my understanding you need 60V to get the car going. You will not be able to do much without proper batteries and their sensors connected. I have unpopulated display card pcb for el jet 4 if you are interrested.

Top: El Jet 5
Bottom: El Jet 4

Note that the position of indicator lights on the left side is shifted and that connections from light, brake, ignition and motors are different between Eljet4/Eljet5

You can not use a eljet 5 display card on eljet 4. THere's a timing issue making the display flicker and is mostly unreadable.

Yes, of course 60V are necessary to get the car going, but the light systems, horn and blower are all powered by the 12V house battery. So by installing a charged 12V battery you can test those without installing the 60V array. Next thing on my agenda is testing the 60V/12V DC/DC converter, the Curtis controller and the relays.

As the car was idling for over 8 years i'll need to have a look at the brakes and bearings, too.

My charger is completly different from yours and has a display for charging state and charging current on top so obviously a former owner replaced the original Zivan with this one.

Car controller and display board are in perfect state here so no need to hassle with them. As mentioned above i have display board and car controller for El Jet 5, too, but need them only for spare parts.
