Thanks a lot again for your input.

I will try to contact Roger Stoll, but I believe the former owner had tried to do so and was not very succesful...

I am going to use the plan below and see how the system is currently setup.

Worst worst case scenario, I may have to put back the old batteries and BMS system - at least to make sure the car runs. If it does, I may follow Lars' advice and remove the Trafo and the "Ladeprint" and replace it with a modern charger... another project :)

If any of you have any thoughts, please do feel free to share!

Thanks again

Your Picture is from down under the seat. There is no Kappamesser. The big thing with the metal plates is the charger. Do not short any pins there!!! The little thing is the Ampere-Limiter for the Motor-Power. Third Circuit is the 36V to 12V changer.

You find Kappamesser behind the instruments over your feet (the position of your feet when you are sitting in the EL).

Greetings,

Werner

Thanks Werner!

Looking at the resource your kindly shared before and following your guidance, this seems to be it right?

Nothing is attached to it.

Should I stil go ahead and try to short pin 13 and 14?

Thanks!

Hi,

this is the Service-Plug (like OBD, but completely analog). Pinout here:

The Kappamesser should be the thing left in the Picture (if i remember correctly), i set ab box around him. The device has to look like the device in the Kappamesser elweb article.

Thanks Werni.

Here is a closer look. Looks quite different from the Kappamesser elweb article.

Do you think that could be it?

No, thats the Diodenplatine ( Warnblinkanlage etc ) You have a rather old city el ( before SN 3000 ? )

Yes Christian, it is an old cookie. Before SN 3000. SN 24XX (El-Trans 89 A/S).

Hi Greg,

the "Kapamesser" (capacity counter) sits on the left rectangular frame tube, behind the "Diodenplatine":

(I attached a bag for windscreen water)
Two wires, leading to the connector of the board are orange (Pin 13) and yellow-Red (Pin14). They are part of the "switch circuit", supplying voltage to motor control:

What Werner and Christian meant is that these two wires have to be shorted, when the "Kapamesser" is not able anymore to switch the relay (when there's not enough "information" for this device, because it doesnt get the signals like it used to get in "lead times"). Then the motor control will presumably work again.

But in my eyes a missing bridge/short between or and ye/rd only affects the ability to drive, not the charging.

On the last circuit picture, you can also see the two temperature sensors, the "NTC"'s. The "1k" is (originally) for the "Kapamesser" and the "100k" is for the charging board (Ladeprint; not visible here in the picture). I think that one or both are "misapplied"/differently used in your actual wiring? See my post from Jan 13th: I would propose to connect a 100k resistor to the yellow and blue wires. That says the charging board that it's 25 degrees celsius (if the charger is not completely re-programmed).

Best, Lars
