Hi I am starting to look to into going further distance in my cityel and then the whole thing of charging stations comes to mind and also the type of plug I need to use ..

Has any one done this?

I was looking at buying a type 2 plug and most of the stations I know of use 3 phase 415V supply but I only need one phase 240v.
is it possible to do this and has any one done it.?

if I can do this then it opens up a whole new world to me where I am ... as we have a very good network of charge points ..

One thing I want to ask though..... what is there to stop any one UNPLUGING your car and being rude and just putting it in their car.. I could already imagine some one doing that to my cityel as it's so small...

Hi Mark,
of course everyone of us who used to run long distances has exactly the same challenge. It rather depends on how you expect to charge you EL.
I am charging with 3 phases and with up to 145 Amps, so i need to have a type 2 charging point. Theses plugs do lock up with the charging points so no one is able to disconnect them - as long he is not too rude. In this case it is able to destroy the plugs and disconnect them with force..
I do adapt to a CEE 32 ampère plug (the red ones, you know..) and split the phases to 3 times CEE 16 amps each (the blue ones).

Please try to avoid using normal two-pinned plugs, cause they are not very reliable and could rost your el..

When charging your el on long trips, you will be nearby in most cases, so no problems with rude guys..

Greetings from Saarland, Sascha

so it is possible, great news..

Ok so I need to try and understand what I need to buy to start the process..

I have seen plugs on ebay but if I am honest I don't really know what I am buying.. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5...0001&campid=5338536215&icep_item=223642649121

I saw this and at £59 looks good.. if it is the right one? and I am sure when China get going they will be making more and more of these and they will become cheaper.

so .... the plug in the charger is one thing... what about at the EL end of things?

Will I still be using my Cityel Original charger? that's why I am confused? as I use Lead Acid batteries ( at the moment ) so I can't see how I can use anything else other than 1 phase of the 3 phase supply??

Thanks Enno.. I have tried calling some of the charging companies but as yet no reply.. I think because my question to them is so off the wall they don't know how to answer it..

There are lots of Typ2 to Schuko or CEEblue or similar on the market. Try Amazon, AliExpress or others....

Try Henning Bettermann, he should be able to communicate in English. He writes on his web-site:

Please call +49 231 93149232, send a text to this number or drop us a line to "info@ladesystemtechnik.de""

or this one through Amazon

Ok I think I am sorted now.. I have a cable coming that is all sorted and is a plug in and charge.. with a type 2 plug.. so I can use the charge points..

I have down loaded an app to do this and all i need really is to look at my car to upgrade it so it cuts out after a set amount of charge..

Please be aware that most public charging points are now using more and more having restrictive use of available power/current. So you have to monitor the PWM signal on the ControlPilot pin and adjust your charger accordingly or you will get kicked off. Since more and more public EVSE's are connected to the same infrastructure there will be more limited power available. For example in Rotterdam/Netherlands it is hardly possible to get more then 12A per phase instead of 16A.
