Yes, unfortunately I went with you and the Cityel began to smoke and cut out ... until it failed completely and then flamed!

but hopefully it will surely be able to ... i am confident it is ... just a little bit of hard work and take your time ... hope not to have taken too much damage ... i hope .. .

Hi,
Bad news!
I think it looks like the cause is a contact problem on the forward / reverse contactor. Hopefully the Curtis is still ok.
Greetings Enno

yes sadly a bolt to the + Wire must have been loose as it's covered behind the cover I couldn't see it.. so sadly It caught fire..
I have been though a number of things on the cityel but not been near the curtis end... until now.. but alas too late.. but hey ho...

That's really sad.
I hope you made it out without smoke-intoxication!
Glad you were able to extinguish it in time before it all went up in smoke. The damage looks nasty, but I'm sure with enough time and effort you can make it work again. :)
Keep us posted.

yes it's not good but hopefully it's fixable.. one of the things i am really looking for is this orange plug and then some wires attached to it.. if some one has a broken cityel that is for parts... I could do with this plug and say 20cm -30cm of wire from it.. so I can join it to my wiring as it's all melted at the plug into a big mess..

if any one knows some one who has a broken up Cityel then I am really looking for this plug and wire please..

Hi Mark,
just this plug is veery special and led to lots of problems, so many drivers just soldet the wires together and did cut off this orange plug! I would propose the same way..

Greetings from Germany, Sascha

I would also sugest getting rid of that round connector plug and upgrade to more secure and waterproof AMP JPT connectors, wich are more common nowadays.

yes I have heard this a few times and also solder the wires and take the whole plug away.... hmm.. I do get that idea.. I may do that in the future if I have problems but for now I just need to keep it standard as then I can swap parts out incase of problems esp after the fire I do not know 100% what works and what does not.
